McGarrah's Stagecoach Inn is currently being renovated and we need your help! Shown here is Drew Diltz of DD Painting installing a restored window in the second floor of the inn. It’s our goal to have all 43 windows of the inn restored by the summer of 2012.
Diltz explained that each window requires a different level of work to achieve its original luster. The old paint is carefully stripped from the wood and the glazing is examined to so that it is constant with the original historic look of the window. The process is time consuming; only 1 to 2 windows a week are restored by Diltz’s experienced hands. The original wood frames and glass are being preserved to the greatest extent possible.
The Cornerstone Masonic historical society would like to invite you or your company the opportunity to participate in the renovation through donations for the preservation of windows. As a memorial to your contribution, we are offering an opportunity to place a plaque on the frame. The plaque can dedicated to the memory of a loved one, in recognition of an accomplishment, as a friend of McGarrah's Inn, in honor of grandchildren, in the name of a commercial or fraternal organization, or any other appropriate honorarium. The plaque will be visible on the inside of the building and will be affixed to the window frame.
Interested donors are encouraged to drive by the inn or stop in on the first, second or fourth Wednesdays of the month to see and talk to a member of the historical society about the renovations taking place. The best time to visit would be from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The donation for each restored window is $150.00.
Please contact Paul Miller, chairman of the window replacement committee at 928-0869 to donate to this worthy cause and to tour the windows that are available for restoration. Dave Roman, our president can also be reached by email and can pass along your information to Paul. His email is roman21@hotmail.com.
